Who you're dealing with
No call centre, no salesman on commission, no lads you'll never see again. Urban Green is Simon Hitchins, 27 years in the trade, and a team of three. Small on purpose, so the person who quotes your extension is the person on the tools.

About Urban Green
Simon has spent 27 years in the trade. He started on site as [to confirm with Simon], and he's worked across Leeds ever since: extensions and structural work, walls and paving, and the stone work he's known for. That work goes beyond back gardens: an academy school brought him in direct for the reclamation of its Victorian stone, a job that took months of council approvals to get over the line.
[Simon's story in his own words to go here: where he trained, how the team came together, the jobs he's proudest of. Kept short and plain.]
There are three working alongside Simon. We don't chase volume: take on too much and the finish slips, so we'd sooner turn a job down than rush it.
If we take your job, Simon's on it start to finish, and every job we show is our own, photographed as we built it. See the work.
How we quote
We come and look at the job, then put one price on the whole of it in writing. Four habits, and what each one protects you from.
So that's the quote you'd get. Tell us about the job and we'll get one over to you.
Get a written quote →Ask to see it
Every guide to hiring a builder tells you to ask for the same few things. Here they are.
Insurance
Public liability £5m, employer's liability £10m, and contract works cover on extension work. Ask to see it and we'll have the certificates in front of you before you finish the sentence.
Guarantee
A 10-year workmanship guarantee. On an extension that's the structure: foundations, load-bearing walls, masonry, steels. On walling it's the wall standing up, footings and blockwork core included. On paving it's the groundworks, the sub-base, mortar bed and drainage. In writing, dated, handed over when we finish.
The engineer
We don't draw plans, and we won't pretend we do. A structural engineer does the design and the calculations. We build to them, and we'll point you to engineers we work with regularly.
The contract
A written contract before anyone starts: the scope, the price, the payment stages, and what happens if you change your mind about something halfway. Nothing here runs on a handshake and a number said out loud.
The company
Urban Green Masonry & Landscapes is the trading name of SH Building & Landscape Ltd, company number 16540612, registered in England & Wales. Look us up on Companies House before you ring. VAT registered, number [to confirm].
After we finish
Snagging is part of the job, not a favour we're doing you. Ring Simon, not a call centre, and we'll be out to look within three to five working days, same day if it's urgent like drainage or water getting in. If it's our workmanship, we put it right at no cost.
Accreditations
We don't hold trade accreditations yet. The schemes worth being in take time and a track record of finished jobs to earn. The ones we're working toward, in order: Checkatrade, the Marshalls Register for driveways and paving, and the Dry Stone Walling Association for the stone. When we've earned them, they'll go here.
Where we work
We're based in north-west Leeds and we'll travel roughly an hour for the right job. If you're in one of these towns, chances are we're already working near you.
