Porcelain patios, stone porches and building work across Halifax and Calderdale, about 45 minutes from our base in north Leeds. Simon has 27 years in the trade, and every quote is written and itemised before work begins.
Services
Our own team carries out all seven kinds of work below. The first two are the ones we have already completed in Halifax.

We lay porcelain, Indian stone and natural stone on a full-depth sub-base, with drainage planned first. The Halifax garden on this page is 85 square metres of porcelain.

We supply and fit oak and timber porch canopies, and build the stone dwarf walls, steps and paving beneath them. We completed one in Halifax in September.
More about porches →
We build and repair walls, piers and steps in new and reclaimed stone, coursed and pointed to match the existing building. Much of Calderdale is built in sandstone.
More about stone masonry →
We build single and two-storey extensions to your architect's drawings and the engineer's calculations, and manage building control on site. Where the house is stone, we build in stone.
More about house extensions →
We lay block paving, Indian stone and tarmac driveways on a properly excavated and compacted base, so they stay level and drain correctly for years.
More about driveways →
We build new garden and boundary walls in stone or brick, and rebuild failing ones, on proper footings with copings bedded to shed water.
More about garden walls →
We build decks on a braced, level frame, with steps and edges finished cleanly where they meet the patio. Composite boards are available for low maintenance.

Why us
We are small on purpose. The person who quotes your job is on site while it is built. There are five of us, so we take on fewer jobs and see each one through.
Stone is our specialism. Coursing, pointing and matching older stonework is the part of a job most builders rush, and it is the part we are known for.
Everything is in writing. You receive an itemised, fixed-price quote before work begins. We ask for a modest booking deposit rather than most of the money up front, we carry £5m public liability cover, and our work comes with a 10-year guarantee.
In Halifax, the garden and the timber porch on this page were one job at one house, and we photographed it from the first dig to the finished porch.
Recent work
The first two jobs are in Halifax. The others are elsewhere in Leeds and Yorkshire, and each one is labelled with its location.

Cream large-format porcelain laid the full length of the house and down the side, off new timber sleeper retaining beds, on a full-depth sub-base.

Halifax
A timber porch canopy set on coursed stone dwarf walls with dressed copings, built at the same house as the Halifax porcelain patio.

Adel
Riven Indian sandstone in mixed sizes, laid along the side of the house and into the garden, with the manhole cover cut in flush.

Harrogate
Large-format grey porcelain laid on levelling spacers, running down the side of the house against a treated timber edge.

Calverley
A flat-roofed rear extension in red brick, with a wide picture window and bifold doors opening onto the garden.

Bramhope
A garden wall faced in coursed sandstone on a concrete block inner leaf, with the quoins toothed in and concrete copings bedded on top.

Distances are approximate, measured from Halifax town centre. Our base in north Leeds is about 45 minutes away.
Halifax is about 45 minutes from our base in north Leeds, and it is a town we already work in: the garden and porch on this page were built here in 2026. Distance does not change how we work. We visit before we quote, the quote is itemised, and the same team builds the job from start to finish.
Almost every place in the table is planned through Calderdale Council; Queensbury, towards Bradford, falls under Bradford Council. Most patios need no planning permission, and garden walls and driveways usually do not either, within height and drainage limits that we check before quoting. Extensions and larger porches may require it, and for those your architect's drawings come first.
Much of Halifax is built in local sandstone, and many of its older streets sit within conservation areas. That is where stonework is judged: the right stone, coursed and pointed to match the house it joins. It is the part of the work we are best known for.
We also have pages for Harrogate and Wakefield, each showing the jobs we have completed there.
