Stone walls, driveways and house extensions across Wakefield and the villages around it, about 35 minutes from our base in north Leeds. Simon has 27 years in the trade, and every quote is written and itemised before work begins.
Services
Our own team carries out all seven kinds of work below. The first is the one we have already completed near Wakefield, at Sitlington.

We build new garden and boundary walls in stone or brick, and rebuild failing ones, on proper footings with copings bedded to shed water. The Sitlington walls on this page are natural stone.
More about garden walls →
We lay block paving, Indian stone and tarmac driveways on a properly excavated and compacted base, so they stay level and drain correctly for years.
More about driveways →
We build single and two-storey extensions to your architect's drawings and the engineer's calculations, and manage building control on site. Where the house is stone, we build in stone.
More about house extensions →
We build and repair walls, piers and steps in new and reclaimed stone, coursed and pointed to match the existing building.
More about stone masonry →
We lay porcelain, Indian stone and natural stone on a full-depth sub-base, with drainage planned first.
More about patios and paving →
We supply and fit oak and timber porch canopies, and build the stone dwarf walls, steps and paving beneath them.
More about porches →
We build decks on a braced, level frame, with steps and edges finished cleanly where they meet the patio. Composite boards are available for low maintenance.

Why us
We are small on purpose. The person who quotes your job is on site while it is built. There are five of us, so we take on fewer jobs and see each one through.
Stone is our specialism. Coursing, pointing and matching older stonework is the part of a job most builders rush, and it is the part we are known for.
Everything is in writing. You receive an itemised, fixed-price quote before work begins. We ask for a modest booking deposit rather than most of the money up front, we carry £5m public liability cover, and our work comes with a 10-year guarantee.
Near Wakefield, the stone walls and gate piers on this page are at a house in Sitlington, and we photographed the job from the first day to the finished walls.

Distances are approximate, measured from Wakefield city centre. Our base in north Leeds is about 35 minutes away.
Wakefield is about 35 minutes from our base in north Leeds, and it is a district we already work in: the stone walls on this page are at Sitlington, south-west of the city. Distance does not change how we work. We visit before we quote, the quote is itemised, and the same team builds the job from start to finish.
Everywhere in the table is planned through Wakefield Council, which also handles dropped kerbs. Most patios need no planning permission, and garden walls and driveways usually do not either, within height and drainage limits that we check before quoting. Extensions may require it, and for those your architect's drawings come first.
Many of the older villages around Wakefield are built in local sandstone, with long runs of old stone boundary wall. That is where stonework is judged: the right stone, laid and pointed to match what it joins. It is the part of the work we are best known for.
We also have pages for Halifax and Harrogate, each showing the jobs we have completed there.
